Crafted with antique Suzani textiles of Uzbekistan, the Suzani cushions highlight the construction of the vintage embroidery by displaying the fabric on the reverse or back side. Superimposed over the antique fabrics are motifs - each mystical and whimsical in their own right. Like a palimpsest, they layer new history onto the textiles, these fanciful designs draw inspiration from Zabie’s hand-drawn reinterpretations of Uzbek mysticism and craft.
